True cost = (Quote price × design adequacy factor) + (erection time × daily site cost) + (maintenance cost × building lifespan)

A building that costs USD 78/m² on paper and requires three weeks of field welding plus repainting in year five is more expensive than the USD 95/m² option that assembles in six weeks and requires zero maintenance for 25 years.
